MTNL and BSNL merger required to compete with big companies: PK Purvar
Public sector telecom companies are essential for synergy between MTNL and BSNL merger operations. MTNL Chairman and Managing Director PK Purvar said that if these companies merge with each other, then these two companies will be able to compete with the big companies present in the market. This statement has come at a time when there is a lot of discussion about the merger of BSNL-MTNL. This is also being considered for improvement in their services.
A parliamentary committee said that the plan of the Department of Telecommunications is to keep this merger proposal in front of the Union Cabinet in June. According to the committee, the merger of these two companies could be a good offer for the success of these companies. It means that if both these companies are merged, then MTNL will end and only BSNL will remain. However, Telecom Minister Manoj Sinha said in a written reply to the Parliament that there is no proposal for the merger of BSNL and MTNL for the time being. Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL) provides services in Delhi and Mumbai. Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) is operating in other parts of the country.
