Google has Planned to Reduce the Population of Mosquitoes that Spread the Disease

Google’s mother company Alphabet, along with American scientists, has planned to reduce the population of mosquitoes that spread the disease. Google’s plan is to create 2 million mosquito-borne mosquitoes which will prevent mosquito population from growing. According to the Washington Post report, according to the plan, millions of malaria males will be released in Fresno County of California. When the male mosquito will be infected with female mosquitoes present in nature, then the female mosquito that will lay eggs will not develop.

The name of this project is debugged Fresno. This scheme is being operated by Vertele, the subsidiary of Alphabet. Scientists said that its aim is to reduce the number of Aedes agate mosquitoes. This species of mosquitoes is responsible for spreading zicha, dengue and chikungunya.

The company has planned to release 10 lakh male infant mosquitoes in two areas, located near Fresno County in 20 weeks, which do not bite. It has been said in the report that they will be infected with Wolbachia bacteria to produce strained male mosquitoes. Wolbachia is a type of bacterium that is found to be naturally found in 40% of pests.
